Being the Mean Mom

Well, it's officially nap time at the Bonner house and of course my son is fighting sleep. I really don't see what his problem is? I loved taking naps as a kid. He must get it from his father. Of course everything "bad" he does, he gets from his father. It's my way of saying "since I have to be mean mommy, you get the bad traits."

My husband has always been the kind-hearted, loving, and fun one to be around. It's a few of the many reasons why I love him so much. But that takes at toll on me. He seems to have a hard time playing the tough-love role so I am the one forced to do the spanking or punishing of any kind. I have to give him credit, he has tried. But the first time he yelled at Jacob to "GO TO BED!" , Jacob replied by laughing. He can't take him seriously. Which is where mean mommy comes along and ends up being the one Jacob gets mad at.

You see, when mommy comes in the room and he knows he is supposed to be in bed, he gets up and runs and jumps in bed. When daddy comes in the room in the same situation, he laughs and starts playing again. Oh how he learns fast!

Honestly, I hate being the mean parent. I always thought that when I got married it wouldn't be that way and it would be half and half. But nope. I am mean mommy. I'm the one that has to say no when daddy was going to let him wonder off the trail and into cactus covered lands.

I guess the best way to look at it is that's neccessary. I do it for my son. I do it because someone has to do it. And like I said, I can't say my husband didn't try but I'm pretty sure he would be going against nature doing so. Oh well!
That's all my rambling for today. :)
